Is it too late to refrigerate?

Postby Mariomel » Tue 22 October 2019 / 05:25 am

Hello all, I am new to this forum and to Polaroid use in general.

I was recently given a Polaroid 340 and 3 boxes of expired unopened Fuji pack film (2 x FP-100 and 1 x FP-3000). The film is dated exp 2014. Obviously the random person giving this away on Craigslist had no idea of its value. I’d love to use it in the near future, either in this camera or more importantly, in a camera left to me by my father (model 101)

So here’s my question: I do not know whether or not this film was kept refrigerated or not. I highly doubt it, because it was apparently left abandoned in a vacant apartment. I plan to use it only on special projects. Should I start to refrigerate it until I use it, or is it a lost cause now.

Thanks for your help on this.

hi and welcome to this forum. keeping the film refrigerated from now on slows further ageing. so if you want to use the film later, it helps. but if the film is alread spoilt by high temperatures, it's too late. keep it cold and do your project as soon as possible. the b&w film first, it perishes faster...
